In 2020, Chey’s piece on the historical legacy of the Hanford Nuclear Reservation was recognized by the Society of Professional Journalists’ for its annual Northwest Excellence in Journalism Awards, taking second place in the “Health and Science Reporting” category for small newsrooms.
